When Should I take my Dog to the Vet?

Aside from the yearly check-up and vaccinations, these are some reasons for obtaining immediate vet care for your dog:
- Difficulty breathing
- Restlessness, panting, unable to lie down comfortably, unsuccessful attempts to vomit, abdominal distension.
- Seizures
- Collapse or profound weakness
- Profuse hemorrhage or major known physical trauma
- Repeated vomiting and/or diarrhea
- Struggling to urinate
- Not drinking or eating once settled
- Repeated coughing
- Loss of use of rear legs
- known exposure to dangerous poisons or foods (chocolate, onion, etc.)
- Impacted porcupine quills
- Severe pain--always an emergency! Dog is vocalizing, panting, obviously limping, or exhibiting other symptoms of agony
