We are in great need of any time that you can provide to help out at these events, the more people we have- the fewer hours we each have to work.  The funds that you help to raise at these events provide the care that our shelter dogs and cats greatly need and deserve. They also help to fund outreach services to the community of animals and their people throughout Steuben County.

Who We Are

The Finger Lakes SPCA was founded in 1949 as the Bath Animal Shelter. We are a nonprofit organization supported by private donations and the local community. We serve Steuben County in West/Central New York State and the surrounding communities.

Our Mission

  1. Promote the humane treatment and care of all animals within its area.
  2. Enforce the New York State animal cruelty laws.
  3. Provide education for public awareness of the humane treatment and care of all animals and the specific responsibilities of companion animal guardianship.
  4. Provide spay/neuter, rabies vaccination and other clinics which promote the health and welfare of animals.
  5. Provide a facility to house stray and unwanted animals in a manner which shall sustain their health and welfare.
  6. Aggressively work to reunite lost animals with their guardians.
  7. Encourage the adoption of stray and unwanted animals.

Why Should You Adopt From an Animal Shelter?

"Animal shelters are your best source when looking for a pet. Not only do they have a great selection of adult animals for adoption, but they also have kittens and puppies, even purebred animals. In fact, on average, purebreds account for about 25% to 30% of a shelter's dog population... [more]"
