Who We Are
The Finger Lakes SPCA was founded in 1949 as
the Bath Animal Shelter. We are a nonprofit organization supported
by private donations and the local community. We serve Steuben
County in West/Central New York State and the surrounding
communities.
Our Mission
- Promote the humane treatment and care of all animals within its area.
- Enforce the New York State animal cruelty laws.
- Provide education for public awareness of the humane treatment and care of all animals and the specific responsibilities of companion animal guardianship.
- Provide spay/neuter, rabies vaccination and other clinics which promote the health and welfare of animals.
- Provide a facility to house stray and unwanted animals in a manner which shall sustain their health and welfare.
- Aggressively work to reunite lost animals with their guardians.
- Encourage the adoption of stray and unwanted animals.
Why Should You Adopt From an Animal Shelter?
"Animal shelters are your best source when looking for a pet. Not only do they have a great selection of adult animals for adoption, but they also have kittens and puppies, even purebred animals. In fact, on average, purebreds account for about 25% to 30% of a shelter's dog population... [more]"
