Thanks to our Dedicated Volunteers
Our shelter’s volunteer base continues to grow, and our organization
boasts some of the most devoted & dependable volunteers to be
found anywhere! This is not just a blanket statement, but
rather a heart-warming, inspiring and wonderful FACT that is
supported by the following extraordinary volunteer acts:

Urgent Need for
Event Volunteers
Do you
enjoy attending local events? Do you feel comfortable talking with a
variety of people?
If you do, and you have some time to spare – the
Finger Lakes SPCA needs your help. Our SPCA, serving Steuben
County, needs to participate in as many local events as possible.
Our booth at these events hands out information pamphlets, shares
pictures and information about the dogs and cats available for
adoption at the shelter on Route 54, collects very important
donations and sells our T-shirts, hats, etc. Our current volunteers
for event duties are stretched to the limit during the busy summer
and fall Finger Lakes seasons. If you would enjoy “manning our
table” for a few hours at upcoming events please call Mary Moyer at
583-2510 or email at
moyers1@wildblue.net . There is an immediate need for coverage
for the upcoming Bath Fair Aug.12-17 and the Hammondsport Crafts
Festival Aug.16-17. Check out our website at
www.fingerlakesspca.org for more information.
Our Volunteers:
Run 9 miles or even a whole marathon to raise money for the animals!
Walk, exercise and love the dogs no matter what the weather!
Help out, despite chronic illnesses & pain!
Fund-raise by manning double shifts for days straight at WGI during
NASCAR weekend!
Bring drinks and treats to the staff too!
Write thank you notes to donors & pay for the postage too!
Assemble appeals & newsletters (thousands) on a moments notice &
without complaint!
Use their own vehicles & gas to aid with animal rescue, grooming &
medical transport!
Pick-up, Sort, Count, Deliver & Redeem 320,000 returnable cans &
bottles annually!
Bathe the most malodorous, untrained & high energy large breed dogs
(This means always
willing to get soaked with doggie wash & rinse water)!
Donate time to mow & pick-up our yard, empty litter-boxes, shovel
snow & clean the attic!
Rise early & give up much needed weekend sleep to help with the
“Catnip Program”!
Provide love to all the orphan shelter cats (20+) on one visit (so
no one feels left out)!
Work hours upon hours rewiring kennel gates & wire brushing kennels
-saving the shelter thousands of dollars!
Work full-time jobs, take care of their families & still find time
to volunteer!
Give financial contributions in addition to their enormous gift of
volunteer time!
